Counselling Centre’s plea

DUNDALK Counselling Centre, which is based at 3 Seatwon Place, has been part of this community for 30 years.

DUNDALK Counselling Centre, which is based at 3 Seatwon Place, has been part of this community for 30 years.

The centre is a charitable organisation that provides skilled psychological counselling to adults, children, adolescents, couples and families.

It provides 5,000 counselling sessions a year depends hugely on government funding which has been cut by 47.5 per cent over the past three years.

But as well as cuts in government funding, the centre now has another problem.

Last monthy the building next door went on fire.

The fire pread across to the centre’s roof which sustained substantial damage.

All of the counselling rooms have been affected to varying degrees. Four of the rooms cannot be used.

And so the counselling centre is appealing to all local businesses asking for help.

This service is vital for this community and the demand is growing on a daily basis.

“We appreciate that all businesses are under pressure at this time but we would be grateful for any assistance, no matter how small,” said Ger Matthews Centre Manager.

It will really help the community.
