Enda McKevitt, Proleek, Ravensdale had been trying to get away from Gardai at the time, the court had heard.

A prevous court heard that defendant had been seen driving erratically in Dundalk on May 5 last year. Gardai activated the siren and followed the car towards Linenhall Street where the chase ended after McKevitt’s car hit three parked vehicles and a pole.

He had a 74/100 reading when his breath was tested.

Last week’s court in Dundalk heard he had no insurance on the night of the crash. Solicitor Frank McDonnell, defending, said that his client was an unemployed carpenter.

Hearing that the compensation had been finalised, Judge Flann Brennan fined defendant e250 and disqualified him from driving for three years on the drunken driving charge.
