According to promotion: “All pumpkins may look alike but they are certainly not all the same,

the most important fact to note before entering your local Tesco is that there is a difference between edible pumpkins and those designed for Halloween decoration.

“The type of pumpkins we grow at Van Dijk Nurseries are mostly for carving but can be used for cooking too. While they all pretty much look the same there are ways to distinguish the two. The pumpkins you eat are generally smaller and can come in many shapes and colours, even some which look like turban hats!” quips Bruce.

“However, the easiest way to tell is by the weight, pumpkins designed to be eaten will be heavier because they have more flesh inside.”
