Nine County Louth students get top awards in Texaco Children’s Art competition

Special Merit Awards were given to nine students from schools in Blackrock and Dundalk

Special Merit Awards were given to nine students from schools in Blackrock and Dundalk

John Marron (17) from St Brigid’s School, Dundalk also won a Special Merit Award. Jessica McCartney (13) from St Bridgid’s School, Dundalk, won second prize in category G of the competition.

Jessica was presented her with the award by Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Jimmy Deenihan, and Enda Riney, Chairman of Valero Energy (Ireland) Limited.

Other Co Louth winners who received Special Merit awards at the ceremony held in Dublin were Michaela Begley (15) from St Vincent’s Secondary School, Dundalk; and Aaron Kinney (13) from St Mary’s College, Dundalk.

Eimear McMahon (13) is a pupil at Our Lady’s College, Drogheda and won first prize in category C; Feargal Quinn, aged eight, from Scoil Mhuire gan Smál, Termonfeckin won second prize in category E; while Katya Lalor (11) from Scoil Mhuire Fatima, Drogheda; and Meadhbh Honan (13) from Our Lady’s College, Drogheda, won Special Merit Awards.
