LCEB to run start-up course aimed at Over 50s

LOUTH County Enterprise Board (LCEB) is launching three Start Your Own Business courses designed to suit a variety of budding entrepreneurs including the over 50s.

LOUTH County Enterprise Board (LCEB) is launching three Start Your Own Business courses designed to suit a variety of budding entrepreneurs including the over 50s.

The part-time courses, which are due to start in the coming weeks, have been designed to address the needs of those wishing to start their own business, or those who have recently started trading.

The courses include Start Your Own Business; Start Your Own Business - Over 50s Training Programme; and Start Your Own Creative Business.

Dundalk will host the Start Your Own Creative Business Programme, which has been designed to specifically address the needs of those wishing to start their own business in a craft, design, visual arts or other creative media, or those who have recently started trading.

The course will be held at Louth County Enterprise Board, Quayside Business Park, Mill Street, Dundalk from September 20-November 8 from 10am-1pm.

Dundalk will also host The Start Your Own Business - Over 50s Training Programme, which will have a special emphasis on the over 50s.

The course aims to introduce participants to enterprise, self employment, life planning, goal setting for the over 50s and will explore particular issues in relation to over 50s.

It will provide a practical understanding of the start-up issues, explore how to research and assess new business ideas, and support developing a business plan.

The course is being held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dundalk and will run from Saturday, September 10 to Saturday, November 12 (excluding bank holiday Saturday, October 29) from 9.30am to 1pm.

The Start Your Own Business Programme is aimed at providing practical support, advice and guidance in a broad range of business areas. This will enable participants to gain a working knowledge of how to set up a business and / or to manage an existing business.

Subjects covered will include enterprise and self employment, market research, who wants to be an entrepreneur, taxation, finance and book-keeping, marketing, sales and sales plans, cash flow projections, legal implications and business plan preparation.

It taking place at Ardee Business Park Hale St, Ardee from September 20-November 9 from 7pm-10pm.

The courses cost e100 per participant to include course material. Assistance towards the cost of the course may be provided by your local Partnership or the Dept Social, Community & Family Affairs.
