The Ardee Improve Your Town awards will be staged again this year.

The Ardee Improve Your Town awards will be staged again this year.

The awards are organised by Ardee Town Council but the council has no say in the judging process which is entirely independent.

The judging will take place in mid-Augusdt and the awards ceremony will be held at a later date.

“Last year’s event was a real celebration of the town of Ardee,” said Cllr Padraig McKenny. “Everybody made a magnificent effort and what has been achieved will go a long way towards ensuring that Ardee gains a medal in this year’s national event.

He praised the voluntary workers and the business people of the town who had done so much to make this inaugural environmental event such a success.

beautiful plaques will be awarded to the winners. Cllr Michael Farrely has sponsored the posters and leaflets for the project first suggested by Cllr Jim Tenanty. The leaflets have been distributed throughout the town.

This awards scheme puts Ardee well and truly on the environmental county map. Dundalk and Drogheda have their own competitions and the county council runs the annual Louth Looking competition for estates. The awards include Best Garden. Best Filling Station. Best Licensed Premises. Best Presented Business/ Shop Front. Best Business Floral Display. Best Residential Floral Display. Best School.Best Housing Estate. Most Improved Environmental Site. Sensory Garden.
