We are delighted that you have chosen to read this week’s Democrat and we hope that it brings you much pleasure.

If you are an established reader you will notice some minor changes and new features.

It is our great pleasure to operate as the voice of the region and the paper of record for more than 161 years. For the first time ever, we are now publishing three separate and expanded editions with new Town and County editions alongside the launch of our new Monaghan Democrat.

If it is your first time to purchase the paper, we are delighted that you have chosen to do so and hope that it will become a weekly part of you and your family’s life.

In addition to the new look and many new features, we are now also in local shops every Tuesday morning for your convenience.

Some of the new features in the paper include a Dundalk Town News section (pages 16-17) and our focus on local weddings (page 28). We are confident that the new look Democrat has something for everybody and as well as our strong sports content, we hope that the new Entertainments section (pages 23-24) will cover all the event and festivities as they happen in your area.

Historic Postcards

For more that 160 years, the Democrat has been the voice for the region and to mark a new era for the paper we wanted to provide you the reader with a suitable memento. For that reason we are this week launching the Democrat postcard series. Over three weeks, we are giving away a different postcard each week. The cards feature images from your area as selected from the celebrated Lawrence collection.

They are wonderful memories and would be great to send to loved ones abroad for St Patrick’s Day or to simply collection and display in your own home. Remember we give away one each week starting this week.

Prizes for readers!

Over the past few days many of you will also have received leaflets through your letterbox about the developments at the paper and our great reader giveaway to mark the occasion. Each leaflet came with a unique reference number which we asked you to keep safe.

There is a whole bagful of great prizes and these include fantastic hotel getaways at leading Irish hotels! The good news that we have three winners this week and the winning numbers are

If you have any of these numbers simply contact the competition hotline on 086-041 79 74 to arrange collection of your prize.
