TRAFFIC: Is the new road layout at the Newry Road Junction causing tailbacks and traffic jams?

Road works at the intersection of the Newry Road and the Armagh Road in Dundalk are causing considerable issues for motorists this week.
A new road layout which includes a traffic island is being put in place, which now means that traffic going North on the Newry Road and traffic going North West on the Armagh Road are being forced to share a line right up to the new Apple Green fuel station.
Some motorists are complaining as motorist going left to Armagh are being held up, and that it's a potential bottle neck.
Meanwhile Irish Water are undertaking essential maintenance on the Carrickmacross Road and Railway Terrace areas in Dundalk, which also caused traffic delays.
