“Spoilt brat” pays e200 to charity

A MAN who was found to have exceeded the national speed limit was described in court as a “spoilt brat” by Judge Sean MacBride, after he asked the judge for Legal Aid despite not having any legal representation to pay for.

Kevin Brennan, Tattyreagh North, Annyalla, Castleblayney was told by the judge: “If you were in my boarding school you would got a kick in the backside.”

The judge said that it was a poor reflection on the youth of today that they thought that taxpayers should have help them for such matters. He told him to pay €200 and get “Out of the witness box”. He returned later with €200 at which point he was told that he had come back a more polite man.

The judge said that his generation was cut from a differnet cloth and that he himself was from a humble background and had genuine sympathy for people who were unemployed.
