I’ll knee cap you says man
A DRUNKEN man threatened to “knee cap” Gardaí on a night out in Castleblayney, Carrickmacross District Court heard last week.
Philip McNeill, Muldrumman, Castleblayney began abusing a a group of girls in the town and was told by an attending Garda to go away. McNeill then informed them that he was from West Belfast and that he would have a bullet put through their knees.
He had one previous conviction in the North for common assault dating back to 1997.
Addressing the court McNeill said: “I apologise for my actions and I’m sorry for wasting the court’s time. He also apologised to the Garda in question saying that he was not a drinking man and had no recollection of the incident as he had been highly intoxicated.
In a separate cae a Castleblayney man pleaded guilty to assault after he spat in the window at a taxi driver. Sean O’Connor (23), Drumleek South, Castleblayney pleaded guilty to the assault that occured on the 5 June 2011.
The court heard how a taxi driver named Francis Walsh went to pick up a fare. Upon meeting a group of people that wanted to be taken a location, one of the group said that he wished to go to a separate location.
The taxi then asked for the money up front, at which point the man became angry as he was unable to pay. He was asked to leave the taxi and became abusive and spat in the open window at the driver. O’Connor have a previous conviction for posessing drugs. He was told to the pay €1000 compensation to the driver and would be given the Probation Act.
In a separate case a man outlined injuries he had incurred in an assault to Judge Sean MacBride, which was alleged to have been carried out by Gareth Myles, 19 Black Island View, Castleblayney. A Mr Gerry Mooney told the court that he sustained six stitches, a broken nose and a fractured finger. The case was adjourned to next month.
