Chamber view of opinion poll

Paddy Malone, President of Dundalk Chamber of Commerce, has said that if traders in Dundalk feel their voice has not been heard then it is open to them to join with their fellow traders and lobby through Dundalk Chamber of Commerce.

Mr Malone was commenting on a recent opinion poll carried out by Sinn Fein in which it was claimed that 62 local traders were contacted and 84 per cent of them said there had been a drop in trade over the past three years.

“It is the experience of the chamber of commerce that the town council does respond to matters we raise with them,” Mr Malone said. “The council has introduced a rates rebate scheme for vacant properties and at the moment the chamber is also in active discussion with the council regarding opening hours and advertisements on streets.”
