Tallanstown National School are working hard towards their 4th Green Flag on Travel.

Tallanstown National School are working hard towards their 4th Green Flag on Travel.

Having successfully launched their COW and WOW days last year, which were a great success, the Greenschool committee are now launching their Golden Boot Award.

Every fortnight a class will be chosen to receive the Golden Boot Award – a class that is completing great work related to Travel e.g. Art work, Poems, Songs etc. The school hope to apply for their Green Flag in March 2012.

Last year the school was awarded its third Green Flag.

Louth has the highest number of Green Flags in the country. Fifty-seven schools out of about 73, now have flags.

The children at Tallanstown school have been encouraged to keep up their environmental work and it is hoped that young parents and teenagers will become involved with the Tallanstown Tidy Towns committee.

The school’s first flag had been attained on the theme of waste. The second on energy and the new theme will be travel.

Principal Brendan Murphy has thanked all for their contribution.
