The severe weather over the past two winters has forced the move.

The weekend will get underway on Friday at 7.15pm with the annual Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Awards introduced by acclaimed poet Brian Lynch.

Drumlin Players return this year with Beckett in Inniskeen and Krapp’s Last Tape and A Piece of Monologue. This show won rave reviews at the Edfringe.

The Saturday programme will include a walking tour of the Patrick Kavanagh Literary Trail in Carrickmacross led by Larry McDermott. Assembly point: The Valley Lodge – opposite St. Joseph’s Church.

At 12.15pm Dr. Reamonn O’Donnchadha will talk about the poetry of Patrick Kavanagh.

Evelyn Conlon will deliver her talk, and Vincent Coyle will talk about his meetings with Peter Kavanagh.

At 9pm the work of Boston playwright Peter Holm will be brought to life when Inniskeen’s own Brendan Crawley and Lindsay Garvey perform Holm’s new play Man of Inniskeen’s Green Journey. On Sunday morning there’s a bus tour of Kavanagh Country and the annual graveside commemoration is at 2pm with readings.
