Traffic Survey for local school

A traffic survey will be carried out on the Marlbog Road as a result of concerns over speeding. Councillor Linus English is to conduct the survey on behalf of St. Fursey’s National School.

A petition was prepared recently for Louth County Council and signed by parents and teachers at the school as well as local residents who are concerned over speeding on the road particularly at peak school times of morning and evening.

It is hoped that the survey will determine speed and traffic volume on the stretch of road, which is often used as a shortcut to the motorway. It is planned to submit the results to the National Roads Authority with a view to securing funding for traffic management measures. Suggestions have been made for flashing lights to alert motorists of the presence of the school.
