GERRY Adams held a press coference in Imperial Hotel on Friday to launch a new jobs plan which he describes as being real solution to creating jobs and not “Sinn Fein propaganda”.
According to Deputy Adams Sinn Fein would utilise e13 billion additional investment into the economy in a bit to stimulate it and create jobs.
Adams plans involved channeling funds form the National Pension Reserve Fund which says is being squandered by the government.
While the plan was initially launched previously in Dublin, Adams insists that it would create jobs in Louth.
According to a dossier: “Sinn Féin’s Jobs Plan would see an additional investment of up to €340 million in this region with the aim of creating up to 4,000 jobs.
“On Broadband, our plan contains a proposal to invest €2.5 billion to roll out next generation broadband across the state. There are rural areas across County Louth which in some instances have poor or no access to broadband. Louth is perfectly positioned between Dublin and Belfast but we need to improve our attractiveness to secure high end and high tech jobs.”
Adams was keen to point out that this plan is solid and coherent plan and not as he put it “makey-up-stuff”.
Deputy Adams says: “Unemployment hurts citizens, drives families into poverty and despair, leads to increased suicide numbers, the loss of the family home, and social problems for communities. Unemployment is particularly a problem in Dundalk, youth unemployment specifically.”
“It drives many of our brightest and best young people to flee to Australia and other parts of the globe.”
