It’s the last chance to nominate deserving members of the public for this year’s People of the Year Awards and RTÉ TV presenter Jennifer Maguire, rugby pundit Brent Pope and Irish family band Crystal Swing have all lent their support to the final call for nominations. The final closing date for nominations is June 29, 2012 and the Awards, which are organised by Rehab, will be broadcast live on RTÉ One television on Saturday, 15 September.

The People of the Year Awards, Ireland’s pre-eminent national awards ceremony celebrating the country’s most inspiring people, provide an opportunity to shine a light on real-life heroes around the country, telling stories of courage, perseverance, generosity and achievement. The event is also a highlight of the Irish social calendar, attended by a bevy of stars and celebrated public figures.

Calling on people to nominate the heroes around them, TV rugby pundit and children’s author, Brent Pope said: “The People of the Year Awards honour the heroes in all of our communities – for outstanding acts of bravery, achievement and public service – ensuring that they get the recognition they truly deserve. With the closing date fast approaching, I urge people to get nominating today at www.peopleoftheyear.com as this is your last chance to nominate.”

In addition to nominating online at www.peopleoftheyear.com, people can also contact the People of the Year Awards office for a nomination form on 01 2057260 or write to People of the Year Awards office, Rehab, Roslyn Park, Sandymount, Dublin 4.
