The Bonnevilles set for O’Connells

editorial image

Lurgan based 2 piece The Bonnevilles will headline a show this Friday night in O Connells, Quay Street.

The band are setting off on an Irish and UK tour to promote ‘Folk Art and The Death Of Electric Jesus’.

It is the long awaited second album from the blues duo and has just been released on Twenty Stone Blatt Records

Andrew McGibbon Jnr and Christopher McMullan, respectively a deeply soulful vocalist, delta surfing guitarist and powerhouse drumming man-mountain, who have earned a reputation as one of the most incendiary live acts in the country.

Their sound is described as “ Taylor and RL Burnside using Black Sabbath’s equipment “

Formed in 2008 they quickly recorded their debut album ‘Good Suits & Fightin’ Boots’ which was released on garage label Motor Sounds Records.

The band earned immediate respect by snottyly elbowing their way to claim a place at the table beside JSBX, Hound Dog Taylor and The Immortal Lee County Killers.

The following years saw them tour all over Europe and play shows with T Model Ford, Scott H Biram, Bob Log III, The Black Diamond Heavies, Kid Congo and Pete Molinari.

The new album was recorded by Walter Thee Goon in Graham House Studios in Belfast in the spring of 2012 and is lyrically and musically more developed than before and somewhat unexpectedly.

Support this Friday night comes from fast rising alt band Empty Lungs.

Doors open at 9pm and admission is 8 euros.

Come see the best garage blues band in the country.
