Students raise e760 for SOSAD

THE Transition Year students at Ardee Community School raised funds for SOSAD (Save Our Sons and Daughters) by selling St Brigid’s crosses they made themselves.

SOSAD are suicide prevention voluntary group.

The students, led by Ms McCoy, brought in rushes from local fields and were taught by Ms Mohan how to make sturdy St Brigid’s Crosses.

It was a struggle at first but three hunbdred crosses later they were ready to sell. On a freezing February morning, the Transition Years trekked down town to sell.

Following a day of hard work, the bucket collection was complete and all the crosses were sold. After counting, an amazing €760 was raised.
