Stars of smash hit show Shameless set to visit Dundalk's Club Amber

CLUB Amber in Earl Street will be the place to be this Saturday night when two of the stars of Channel 4's smash hit show Shameless Ben Batt and Rebecca Atkinson – better known as on-screen couple Joe Pritchard and Karen Maguire – make their first ever visit to Ireland for the official launch of Green Room, a new night life promotions company.

The duo are the first in a series of major names being lined up by Green Room with a great opening weekend being rounded up on Sunday night when top dance troupe Audio Angels perform.

Speaking ahed of the official launch, Niamh Haughey of Green Room Promotions said: "The whole idea around Green Room is to put Dundalk on the map as the entertainment destination of the North East.

"To do this we're reinventing the night life scene by sourcing top acts that are focused around fun. There'll also be on the night antics like fire eaters and other fun stuff that's sure to keep the crowds entertained."

Club Amber manager Andrew Brodigan also revealed that he was looking forward to offering customers something different on the local nite club scene.

"It's something totally different," he said. "We approached Green Room to run nights like this for us to inject a wee bit of life into things.

"They've come back to us with a very exciting package and this is only the start of it as it is set to evolve in the next six months to a year.

"We just want to offer something different that has never been done before in this area and this is a good start.

"We've had a lot of good feedback so far and hopefully it will be a great weekend," he said.
