Elizibeth Tumelty with Pat and Helena Roddy Choreographers for the St Patrick,s JIgs and Reels

The big Jigs ‘n’ Reels show takes place on St. Patricks Day, March 17 in the St Patrick’s GFC at 7.30pm.

With the big day getting closer and closer the dancers are being put through their paces and are currently putting together a few funny video clips, to be shown individually before each couple dance, which has become a major part of the show.

The choreographers for Jigs ‘n’ Reels are Elizibeth Tumelty, Pat Roddy and Helena Roddy.

Elizabeth’s interest in Irish Dancing started at the age of two and a half years.

Elizabeth has danced to world level standard and also represented Dundalk at a festival in Hamburg, Germany.

She is delighted to be involved with St Patricks GFC Jigs ‘n’ Reels and would like to wish all the dancers all the best on the night.

Choreographer Pat comes from a family with an unrivalled pedigree in Irish Dance.

As a double World Champion and three time All-Ireland Champion, Pat was part of the original cast of Riverdance, eventually taking over the role danced by Michael Flatley.

He was the first Irish Dancer to have a leading role on Broadway when the show played in the Gershwin Theatre 2000 and 2001.

Pat is delighted to be involved with St Pat’s GFC for Jigs ‘n’ Reels 2013.

Helena has also danced since childhood, competing at Ulster All-Ireland and World Championship levels.

She was a member of the renowned Scoil Rince Ui Rodaigh in Dundalk and has also represented Ireland at several Inter-Celtic Festivals throughout Europe.

She toured with Riverdance for seven years as company hairdresser and took up an Assistant Stage Management role with Riverdance on Broadway.

Helena is married to Pat Roddy and they have four children, one of which plays at under 8 level for St Patricks GFC.

Although a Clans woman at heart she is delighted to be involved with St Patricks GFC for this event and for the future and would like to wish all the dancers and everybody involved in the event every success.

Tickets to Jigs ‘n’ Reels cost w20 and are on sale in Crillys Ravensdale, Dunnes Stores in Bellurgan, McCrystals in Jenkinstown, Sheelans Mountbagnal, and Barrys Grange.
