Shock at soccer match theft
Soccer players at the DkIT were left shocked last week when they learned that their property was stolen from the dressing rooms during the match.
The players were having a challenge match at the soccer grounds on campus when the robbery took place.
It is understood that the dressing rooms were left unlocked during the match.
Meanwhile, Vice President of the DkIT Student Union, Benny Traynor said that he condemned the robbery.
“I condemn any sort of theft, but this is not acceptable,” said Benny while speaking to The Dundalk Democrat, “It will not be tolerated.
“Especially in this current climate when students are struggling the last thing they need is valuables being stolen.
“It’s a disgrace and it’s unfortunate for all involved.
“It seems to be a case of someone seeing an opportunity and taking advantage,” added Traynor.
It is unknown weather or not the person(s) that stole the valuables were students in the college or outsiders.
Gardai are investigating the robbery and anybody with information is asked to contact them.
