Patrick donates blood for 100th time

Patrick Farrell from Ardee donated blood for a 100th time at the the Irish Blood Transfusion Service clinic at the Parish Hall Ardee recently.

The clinic would like to thank all 236 donors who attended the clinic.

A special thank you to local voluntary organiser Mr Nicholas McQuillan. Thanks also to the Order of Malta Ambulance Corps, Ardee Unit for their help and support. They assisted with the distribution of leaflets to local estates prior to the Clinic and helped out on the Clinics.

About 70,000 patients are transfused with blood each year in Irish Hospitals. To do this we must collect approximately 3,000 donations each and every week from voluntary donors like you. A total of 2,511 units were required in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda during 2011. It is essential that we maintain and increase the level of support on our next visit to Ardee.

Finally on behalf of all the patients in hospital who benefit from your generosity and a heartfelt thank you to all who attended or helped with our Ardee Clinic in any way.

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service would also like to thank all 120 donors who attended the recently held clinic in Dunleer Recreation Centre, Dunleer. A breakdown of the total figures show that 15 first time donors and 16 former donors attended the clinic.

A special thank you to local voluntary organiser, Margaret Flood for her help and support prior to and during the holding of the clinic.

Thanks also to Maura and George Connolly for distributing information leaflets and posters in the Castlebellingham area.

A big thank you to everybody.
