Author Patrice Reynolds, Stabannon at the launch of her books "Wrapped in Hope" and "Inside Out" in McCabe's of Ardee

past pupil Patrice Reynolds paid a visit to Ardee Community School in November just after the publication of her novel Wrapped in Hope.

Patrice was invited to the school by the English teachers who asked her to speak to the fifth year students about the process of writing and publishing a novel.

She spoke about her time at the school and her memories of being involved in a production of Othello.

She said her writing at school centered on being neat and correct, but it took time to develop self-expression.

It was only twenty years later that she gained the confidence to write with a great sense of freedom.

Her novel and a book of poems and photograph, have both sold well since the launch in November.

It was launched by businessman Sean Gallagher who said that in the current challenging times people are returning to a common decency and in that we are beginning to see people work together.

He said tha Patrice in her books had begun to sing her own song. “It is a story of people who face adversity with great courage and it’s great to have someone write such an uplifting story in these times when people are struggling.”
