Nash urges local art groups to take advantage of EU Presidency Grants

Labour TD Gerald Nash is urging local arts groups to apply for new grants which will be available to support programmes which will form a key part of the cultural programme for Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2013
“This an ideal opportunity for arts groups or festival organisers. There are essentially two schemes: the EU Local Partnership Scheme which is designed to assist Local Authorities to carry out arts projects in co-operation with arts organisations within their localities and with partners elsewhere in Europe; the second scheme is aimed specifically at Festivals and Events due to take place during the Irish presidency from 1 Jan to 30 June 2013 inclusive.”
Deputy Nash said that the grant would be beneficial to many local arts group and that,
“We’re lucky to have so many excellent arts groups in our area. I would urge them to take full advantage of this extra funding from Europe and display our cultural wares in front of an international audience. I’m personally involved with two theatre groups in Drogheda and also serve on the board of the Droichead Arts Centre. I’ll be making sure that everyone is aware of this opportunity.”
