Meant to be under curfew

A 19 year-old man who was supposed to be at home under a court-ordered curfew was seen in the street by a Garda, Dundalk Court was told on Wednesday.

Gardai were opposing a bail application by Michael Murden, Ashling Park, Cox’s Demesne who is charged with alleged criminal damage at Xtravision on November 21 last; public disorder at Castleross on December 29; theft at Maxol, Castletown Road on December 28; burglary at Redeemer School on January 14 last; and burglary at John Street on January 13.

Garda Devenney told the court that he knew the defendant and had seen him out on the street when he should have been under curfew at his home.

The defendant told Judge Wiliam Hamill that the Garda was mistaken when he said he saw him outside his home.

He was remanded in custody to March 6.
