Dundalk appears to be a magnet of good luck as of late with three local people from the area appearing on RTE’s Winning Streak and on Saturday night the winning Lotto ticket was sold in the Longwalk Shopping Centre.

The winning ticket is worth nearly 3.6 million euro and was sold in Carroll’s Newsagents.

The Dundalk Democrat spoke to Sinead McCreesh, a staff member from the local shop about the big win.

“We’ve never sold a ticket worth anywhere near this amount so we were surprised when we were notified about it on Sunday morning.”

At the time of going to press the 3,595,140 euro winnings had not been claimed so anyone who bought or received a Lotto ticket for Saturday, November 24th’s draw is urged to check their ticket as they could be walking around with bit more change in their pocket then they originally thought.

Earlier this year, a two million Lotto jackpot ticket was also sold in the town at Mace on the Carrick Road. The ticket was claimed by a couple from Louth who wish to remain anonymous.

Dundalk’s ‘winning streak’ doesn’t stop there either as Tara Callaghan was the third local person to appear on RTE’s ‘Winning Streak’ on Saturday night. The previous two weeks saw Bola Oni and Declan Bergin, both from Dundalk, appear on the show and take home 89,000 euro between them.

Tara, who is from Manydown Close, went on to spin the wheel and was the highest winner on the night, walking away with 43,000 euro.

Funnily enough two of Tara’s supporters who were in the audience on Saturday night also work in Carroll’s Newsagents who sold the winning Lotto ticket.
