Local student Clodagh is one of 19 in the country to receive perfect marks in the Junior Cert

Junior Cert students all over Dundalk celebrated their results last Wednesday, September 12. However there was one student in particular who was over the moon in St. Vincents Secondary School.
Clodagh Kilcommins was one of the top 19 students around the country who received 12 A grades in her Junior Cert.
The 16 year old student was over the moon to have received a perfect score in her exam results.
Principal Deirdre Matthews said that the school was very proud of Clodagh and her achievements and wished her the best of luck in the rest of her years studying.
Ms. Matthews also wanted to say a huge “congratulations to everyone on the their excellent results and also to Áine Lawless, Aoife McMenamin, Emily Lait and Rachel Begley who achieved 10 A grades each”.
From almost 60,000 students around the country who took the Junior Cert exams, 19 of them appeared on top with 12 As, 108 others achieved 11 As and another 259 achieved 10.
Minister for Education Ruari Quinn congratulated all the students around the country and was pleased with the increase in students undertaking higher level maths.
Figures show that almost half of the students preferred higher-level maths this year, with numbers opting for the Higher Level Maths paper rising by 7%.
Numbers sitting the exam have risen by 3.4%, this is so far, the highest number of students to take the examinations in recent years.
Official results of the 2012 Junior Cert exams are also available online via examination.ie website.
If students have a query about their marks and wish to have their papers rechecked, they can apply for the service through their school.
Applications must arrive at the State Examinations Commission by 5pm on September 28th. The fee for a recheck is €32, which is refundable in the event of an upgrade.
