Ireland Wadokai Karate-Do Remnei recently attended an Elite Squad Training which was held in Dublin where clubs from all over Ireland attended as Ireland Karate Federation Referee Commission were making their final selection for Team Ireland.

As part of the IKFRC, members from Blackrock, Reaghstown and the Bay Estate School IWKR join many clubs from all over Ireland and from different karate styles on a regular basis to train and improve Kata (form) and Kumite (fighting).

All the coaches who are part of IKFRC are European and World champions in their own right and are now in a position to pass on their knowledge to all who attend Squad Training Sessions held by IKFRC. During this Elite Squad Training, IWKR had a number of members who attended, and among those David O’Donnell and sisters Catherine and Clara O’Reilly were among a select few who were chosen to represent Ireland and be part of IKFRC Team

Ireland, and who will be travelling to Scotland in April.

There will be a number of Elite Squad Training Sessions organised for Team Ireland between now and then, and there will also be a number of other events such as the IWKR Annual International Karate Competition which will be held in the Ardee Community Centre on the 20th April.

Not only will there be clubs from all over Ireland travelling to Ardee for this International Event, but there will be clubs from all over Europe attending. With so many members of IKFRC wishing to represent Ireland and be part of the elite Team Ireland, all the coaches of IKFRC had a very hard time narrowing it down to a select few, and all the coaches on the day were encouraged by the enthusiasm of all members and look forward to seeing all members having the chance to represent Ireland at future Karate Competitions.

IWKR currently have clubs in Blackrock, Reaghstown and the Bay Estate School, so if you wish to find out more information about IWKR or IKFRC why not contact Sensei Tommy Marrett 4th Dan tmarrett@eircom.net or 087 647 8060.
