A SPECIAL celebration function was held recently to thank all club supporters, advertisers and sponsors of Lannleire GFC.

Club Secretary Fergal Dunne was delighted with the response to his invitations to all who had helped make the clubs 2012 season such a success.

Bernard Dunne, club treasurer, was quick to add that last year was anoverwhelming success in football and financial success and that the present sound position of Lann Leire was due in no small part to the

huge number of people who dug deep to help. He confirmed that the large support signs on the perimeter walls were very popular at €100 per annum and said that also included now is a smaller sign in the Pavilion gym and a photo in the club web-site, at all in price still at €100. He also mentioned that club membership

application forms can be obtained from any committee members.

Special thanks were extended to Tommy Farrelly who is chair of the Board of Directors of the Lann Leire Pavilion Ltd and who was instrumental in securing the future of the centre for the huge numbers of people availing of the facilities on a weekly basis.

Vice-chair Sean Kelly was delighted at securing the services of an elite selection panel who he hopes will continue the great ambition

that exists within the club. He especially welcomed John McDonnell, who all GAA folk  will know as a long standing outstanding Louth forward and county selector. Also working with first team selection are George Reynolds and Fergal Dunne, both of whom took the Lann Leire

2012 development squad to league honours.

Main sponsor Victory Value were given special mention and owner Eamon Victory once again showed his commitment by providing a hamper for raffle at the upcoming club juvenile agm. Juvenile committee members,Alan Maguire,Brendan Hand and Paul Carron

who were in attendance requested all parents to attend the AGM.

Former Lann Leire and Louth player Aidan King was thanked for his role in PR and record keeping of all club statistics for 2012 whilst Jim Gibney and Emma Lynch got special mention for supervising the weekly Lotto, jackpot presently at €2,600.

Chairman of Dunleer Community Employment Co Ltd Mr. Hugh Callaghan was pleased that his organisation was in a position to help in any way

possible. Thomas Clare also thanked the Dundalk Democrat for excellent coverage of club events during 2012 and looked forward to continued support.

He also thanked those responsible for initiating the club flagship project of security fencing and new car parking, especially Ken Dunne,Martin Mc Geough, Joseph McEvoy,Shay Torris and Eugene Lane.

Thomas confirmed that the objective is to provide ninety additional car parking spaces within the grounds of the club and enhance the security fencing. This project is supported by Sports Capital grants, the club and pavillion committees.
