Kirk’s service praised

THE mood was bouyant in the new Fianna Fail party office on Wednesday evening – no more so demonstrated then when Party Leader Michael Martin was introduced to speak.

“The tide is rising,” said the MC, presumably referring to opinion polls that show Fianna Fail to once again be one of the most popular parties in the countries.

Yet Deputy Martin remained on message in his address, praising both the new office on Jocelyn Street and his colleague Deputy Seamus Kirk.

“He has been of outstanding service to the party over the last two, not just here in this constitunecy, but nationally aswell.

“To be honest our front bench did not have much experience, so Seamus has been indispensible in this reguard.

“He has over 30 years’ experience as a TD.

“Seamus has been working very hard, as has the party. This office is a manifestation of the new drive of the party.”

He also acknowledged and welcomed the prescence of Dermot Ahern, and thanked him for his work down through the years.

He also paid particular tribute to local man Harry Smith

Deputy Martin went on to compliment a “very fine” building and also thanked the organisation for supplying tea and sandwiches on the night. “

There were over 70 people in attendance on the night.
