Kicked out at woman’s dog

A 22-year-old man who kicked out at a woman’s dog and verbally abused and threatened her has had his case put back at Dundalk Court so that he can register with a drug awareness group.

Kieran Kearney, O’Hanlon Park had appeared at the court in January charged with assault, public disorder and animal cruelty relating to the incident at Ice House Hill Park on August 28 2011.

Judge William Hamill was told last Wednesday that defendant was found to be unsuitable for community service. Barrister James Egan said that the probation service had arranged for his client to go to the North Louth Drug Awareness Group but he would have to go there himself. He asked for the case to be adjourned so that he could come back with evidence to the court that he had gone to the group.

The case is due back in court this Wednesday.
