In court on drugs charges

A 28-year-old man charged with possession of drugs was now on a back-to-work scheme cleaning graves and is making great efforts to get on with his life, Dundalk Court was told last week.

Francis Gray, Cedarwood 
Park, appeared on a charge 
of unlawful possession of drugs 
at Culhane Street on January 19 last year. A charge of having 
drugs for sale or supply was struck out.

Inspector Martin Beggy told the court that when Gardai searched defendant, he had 20 grammes of cannabis on him. It was valued at �200.

Judge William Hamill heard that while defendant might have had a drug problem a year ago, he had none now. The judge put the case back for a probation report and urinalysis.

In a separate case, Kyle Gartland, Ashling Park (19) was charged with unlawful possession of drugs last June.

The judge imposed a three-day prison sentence for possession 
of �10 worth of cannabis herb. The court was told he was 
already serving an eight-month sentence.

Separately, Francesco Cinus (51), Calanda, Ravensdale was sentenced to 100 hours community service for having cultivated cannabis on August 16 last.
