Ice Dome still on course for re-opening soon
DUNDALK Ice Dome remains on course to re-open inside the next month or so.
That's according to Mike Petrouis, managing director of Planet Ice, who have taken over the running of the facility.
Speaking from America on Tuesday, Mike told The Dundalk Democrat: "I'm just waiting on a call from the landlords of the Dome to tell me the deal is complete but I have my phone on here waiting on that call.
"Once the deal is complete we should be open in no more than four weeks so definitely by the end of September or start of October," he said.
The Ice Dome has been closed since May when it closed down following a technical issue which required all the ice to be removed and work to be carried out on the plant.
At the time it was expected that it would reopen roughly a week later but speculation grew over its future when it remained closed throughout the summer months.
