The second annual HeadsUp Movie Awards are being launched by RTÉ Two Tube presenters Sinéad Kennedy, Stephen Byrne and Bláthnaid Treacy and students.

The aim of the awards is to encourage young people in Louth and across the country to create their own 60-second movie to promote positive mental health stories around the theme ‘Let it Out’.

It aims to inspire entrants to create positive mental health films and animations which will encourage young people to discuss their feelings and troubles before they reach crisis point.

Entries for the awards will be judged in two categories – under-18s and 18 - 25 years old - with a fantastic prize package of €1,000 on offer for the winning entry in each category as well as the opportunity to work-shadow one of the judges – Emmy award-winning film director Dearbhla Walsh and fellow industry expert Nicky Phelan, an animator with Brown Bag Films.

A shortlist of entries will shown on RTÉ’s Two Tube, with the public voting for their favourite film or animation.

Entries for the awards can be made using any video recording device.

Closing date for entries is November 9th with the winners being announced in mid-December. For more information on the awards, to download the entry form, log on to www.headsup.ie/movieawards.ie
