Funky Feet hit the West End stage in style

Dundalk dance troupe Funky Feet have just returned from a stunning showcase staged in London’s West End.

The talented group were invited back to preform once again in Her Majesty’s Theatre, one of the biggest theatres in London’s West End.

The prestigious event seems to have become an annual ritual for the ever growing group, having preformed in the showcase for a number of years.

Following their return, group leader Stacey Murnaghan told the Dundalk Democrat, “It was a brilliant weekend. The response from the audience was amazing.”

A total of 47 dancers preformed, between the ages of 10 and 21 and over 122 family members travelled to London for the show.

Groups from England and Scotland also participated in the event, although Funky Feet was the only Irish group invited to the show.

“We were the only group to get a standing ovation at the end of our performance. Everybody was very excited,” Stacey explained.

“It was a great weekend. When we returned to the hotel, we had a little celebration because some of the group members were celebrating their birthdays.”

The group certainly made the most out of their London visit.

“We also visited the museums, including the wax museums. We went to the Matilda and Sherk show, which were fantastic. Everybody enjoyed them,” Stacey added.

Funky Feet will take to An Tain Theatre next month for a variety show titled “Getting Ready for Christmas.”
