Fined e300 for driving at speed

A 25 year old man who gardai spotted driving at speed was fined €300 at Dundalk district court last week for careless driving.

The court heard the officers followed Edward Larrigan of Castleross on the 10th of September last year on McSwiney Street and later saw the car skid across the road at O’Hanlon Park.

The Defence solicitor said his client apologised for his actions and asked the court to give him a chance.

He added the accused was going to visit and help his ill grandfather.

After imposing the fine and taking a number of other offences into account, Judge Flann Brennan told the defendant “Don’t do that again Mr. Larrigan – particularly if you drive without insurance, you will be disqualified”.
