Facebook campaign leads to Lacey's reunion night
A FACEBOOK site has led to a reunion night being planned for Lacey's Nite Club at the Carrickdale Hotel on Easter Sunday April 4.
A group on the popular social networking site called 'Bring Back Lacey's' was set up recently and soared in popularity with over 1,565 recorded members.
That led to the Carrickdale setting up another page called Lacey's Reunion, with over 1,000 people confirming they would be attending the reunion night at Easter, 552 saying they might go and over a thousand yet to reply to the invite.
Speaking about the upcoming night, former Lacey's DJ Brian O'Keeffe - who will play a set on April 4 along with another former favourite DJ Steve Kelly and Cool FM's Conor Phillips - said he would not have dreamt of a reunion night happening were it not for Facebook.
"We got talking about the revival site on Facebook and we responded to that by setting up our own site to see what response we got and it really just snowballed from there," he said.
Lacey's was one of Dundalk's most popular night spots in the late 'Nineties and early 'Noughties but closed for good two years ago.
Brian said he had great memories of the place and was thrilled a reunion was happening.
"We wouldn't have even considered this were it not for Facebook but we're delighted it's happening because it's bringing back a lot of good memories for a lot of people."
