THE Erasmus Student Network (ESN) has been officially launched at DkIT in a bid to raise awareness about the Erasmus programme as an option for students.
The ESN turned DkIT into a makeshift airport, complete withtongue in cheek “trolly dolly” displays that were facilitated by performance art students, who donned costumes and big smiles for the event.
ESN Dundalk was founded by David Deane and Conor O’Callaghan following their Erasmus exchange in France and Spain respectively.
“Our host universities had an amazing, structured and engaging programme for the Erasmus students and it was 100% student led, we wanted to offer this to the students coming to Dundalk and use this opportunity as a way to attract more international students to Dundalk,” says David Deane, Joint President of ESN Dundalk.
ESN Dundalk is now the third campus in Ireland to have a ESN section which opens up the promotion of Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) and Dundalk to a further 405 colleges and universities in Europe. A special website will showcase all the activities for students, including discounts and events, information on Dundalk and testimonials from students who have spent their time in Dundalk. This will be available at www.esndundalk.org after its scheduled launch in March. In the meantime the Facebook page is already up and running www.facebook.com/esndundalk.
ESN Dundalk will launch to the DkIT student population on February 5th. The campus will be temporally changed to feel like an international airport to highlight the connection DkIT and ESN have with partner colleges all across the world and the opportunities to go and study on the Erasmus or other International programmes.
The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is one of the biggest interdisciplinary student associations in Europe, founded in 1989 for supporting and developing student exchange. Spread all over Europe with its main office in Brussels, Belgium.
