Dundalk school De La Salle manage to raise €2,700 for Haiti
The recent earthquake in Haiti and the subsequent media coverage prompted students at De La Salle College to propose a number of initiatives to raise funds for the victims.
The main event and perhaps one of the quickest ways to organise a fund-raiser was to hold a non-uniform day held on Friday, January 29.
Proceeds of this event, combined with other money raisers organised by the students produced a total of n2,700 euro.
On the non uniform day a past pupil, Niall Callan, from Callan's Off-Licence visited the school to enquire about the possibility of the school assisting him with a charity called Haven Haiti.
Niall intends to travel to the region in the coming months to help in the reconstruction of victims' homes. The college was delighted to be able to offer Haven Haiti n1,200.
The remaining funds will be donated to the Irish charity Goal who are currently working in the area.
