Dundalk lads show support for'Jedward' during France match

You either love them or hate them, but a group of 12 local lads certainly showed that they love X-Factor twins John and Edward.

It was a sight that would have made Simon Cowell cringe as the Irish dozen showed their support for 'Jedward' in Paris.

The group had travelled over to Paris for the 'Le Crunch' game between France and Ireland in the World Cup play-off match that will always be remembered for the 'Hand of Frog' from 'supercheat' Thierry Henry.

But before the doom and gloom of Ireland's exit, the Dundalk group lifted the spirits of travelling fans with their massive 'Jedward' tri-colour.

One of the lads on the trip, John O'Callaghan said that the flag was one of the more unusual sights in Paris.

He said: "We brought it for a bit of fun and to support John and Edward as we are all massive fans of them. We thought we would show our support for them and it went down well with the fans."

The tri-colour belonged to massive 'Jedward' fan, Enda Callan and after weeks of trying to come up for a slogan on his flag, he opted to support the hair-raising twins.

John added: "Enda is probably the biggest Jedward fan out there and he wanted to have something on his flag so rather than put Dundalk boys on tour, we want with 'John and Edward 4 X-Factor'.

"We had the flag tied to one of the legs of the Eiffel Tower and loads of people wanted their picture taken with it."

As for the game itself, the boys, like most others in the country, were left dejected by Henry's GAA skills.

"We were at the opposite end so we could not see it, but we knew from Shay Given's reaction that something happened. We were robbed."

The twins exited the competition at the weekend but they certainly left their mark on the competition.

"It capped off a terrible week for Ireland. They brought a bit of craic to the competition."

The group that headed over included; Robbie Mathews, Neill Flynn, Shane Higgins, Enda Callan, Pat Clarke, John O'Callaghan, Ryan Duffy, Luke McGahon, Finnian Kelleher, Brian Murphy and Tom Grills.
