Duke Special returns to the Spirit Store for December gig

Peter Wilson - better known as Duke Special

Peter Wilson - better known as Duke Special

Duke Special returns to Ireland for a run of December dates, along with a very special Christmas show in Dundalk’s Spirit Store on December 13.

Duke and his band will perform songs from his new album ‘Oh Pioneer’, as well as a selection of hits, rarities and sing-along tunes in his own inimitable style.

You’ll know Duke Special, of course, from catchy, radio-friendly songs such as Freewheel and Last Night I Nearly Died. For the record, Freewheel was recently nominated the second best Northern Irish song of all time at Radio Ulster’s Great Northern Songbook.

You’ll know him also, from his Choice Music Prize nominations (2005’s Adventures in Gramophone, 2006’s Songs From The Deep Forest) and his three Meteor Music Award nominations.

In the past three years, the Duke has put his singular artistic imprint on five albums: Little Revolutions Volume 1 & 2, The Stage, A Book & The Silver Screen.

Blissfully at home in his own alluring genre of beautifully bruised romanticism, Dukes world is unlike any other - a world filled with vaudeville-esque sensibility, sing-a-longs and addictive melodies.

A fervent performer who harks back to the pre-rock ’n roll era with dashes of Gershwin and orchestral swing, Duke is an original.

Tickets to the Spirit Store gig can be purchased online at www.spiritstore.ie and cost 18euro. Lisa O’ Neill will also do special guest performance on the night.
