A new purpose built centre in Dundalk is giving crafts people and those with a creative spark a vital resource for their talents.

Creative Spark, Louth Creative Community Hub opened earlier this year and is a the brain child of

More recently, Louth Craftmark has evolved to offer support to a range of creative enterprises. This evolution has led to a new initiative – Creative Spark - a new centre which will offer workspace and training facilities for the creative sector in County Louth.

Creative Spark has been developed with a focus on the development of the creative sector in the region, both in terms of enterprise development and the use of creative practice to promote social engagement.

Speaking to the Dundalk Democrat, Sophie Coyle, the community and good relations officer at the Creative Spark, says things are developing at pace at the centre.

“We have 21 work spaces for rent at low costs, one of varying sizes that can cater for all manner of creative businesses. For example with have a graphic design company, a PR firm, software technicians, a renewal enerby company and other businesses.”

Already five spaces in the impressive new building have been taken, with the building having only been opened a few months previously.

“We are looking for more tenants and we have a three tier pricing system starting from as little as €50 a week.

“We also have a hotdesking facility here, where say if someone works from home, they can meet a client here. There are also space here that group would be able to rent on a weekly basis

The project is funded by the IFFI under the auspice of Peace Funding and the Louth Entreprise Board.

“We work with the local community here in Muirhevnamor and we are very conscious of using arts and crafts and getting people interested in this area. We are running workshop are low costs to get people interested in what is traditional a non confrontational medium.

“We hope to work with local and school and we want to become a really postitive addition to the area.”
