Boyfriend left me to go to Canada. I miss him so much, I am thinking of following him

Dear Life Doctor, about a year-and-a-half ago my boyfriend Tom and I were in a serious relationship. We were just about to up it to the next level when he announced that he was moving to Canada.

I was so upset. He said that we could carry on the relationship but I couldn't do it. I can't handle long-distance relationships so I ended it.

Now I think about him all the time. The thought of him still excites me. He was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I looked him up on Facebook and he is having a great time, without me. Should I go to Canada and find him and tell him how I feel, or should I leave him behind.

Sarah, 22.

Dear Sarah, I've heard of some break-up stories, but the fact is, your boyfriend was so sick of you that he didn't just end it, but he had to move away to Canada to get away from you.

Does that not tell you anything?

All I can say is do not go to Canada. I am sure this lad has suffered your incessant meanderings enough without enduring any more.

I mean, he moved away to get away from you, half-ways across the

world. The last thing he needs is for you to further ruin his life.

In fact, he is probably not even in Canada. He is probably in his mate's house in Dundalk playing FIFA saying 'Oh remember the time I told yer one I was going to Canada just to break up with her.'

They are probably having a good chuckle at it.

Ah I see you were on Facebook stalking. But for any blokes out there who are stuck in a terrible relationship with the likes of Sarah, take a leaf out of Tom's book. Just as she is about to open her big horse mouth and utter words that will ruin your life, beat her to the punch

and say you are moving abroad, away from this rubbishly run country and away from an annoying wench.

Go on, go to Canada. You ruined his life once, you may as well do it again. Surely, the sight of your mug at his front door will have him bolting out the door.

Imagine that, he is having the time of his life without you. What does that tell you? Surely you can get it through your thick-planked skull that he didn't love you as much as you love him.

I think you should go. I mean if your life is ruined in Dundalk without him, you may as well go to Canada and ruin his life for him.

Even Stevens and all that.

I mean it is only fair after what he did to you, i.e. leave you for a better country and a better life.

So go on. Ruin it for him.
