BLACKROCK television director and producer Lynda McQuaid has been nominated for an Irish Film and Television (IFTA) for Best Director.

Lynda has been nominated for Best TV Director at the IFTAs for Masterchef Ireland.

She’s also behind The Voice of Ireland which is nominated for best entertainment programme. Lynda works for Ranalagh based TV production company Screentime Shinawil, who have bagged three nominations in the TV categories.

The 41 year old is reputed as one of the biggest names behind the scene within the Irish television industry, having gotten her big break in the UK with Granada television.

In 1990 she was given a break by Jermey Beadle in Manchester, working on You’ve Been Framed. She went from there to become a junior reseacher with Stars in Their Eyes.

After working with the likes of comedian Peter Kay, a trip back to Ireland saw her get involved with RTE, where she went on to work on some of Ireland’s best known and most successful shows including more recently the Apprentice, Masterchef and The Voice of Ireland.

Lynda will be joined by some of Ireland’s hottest actors at the awards which will take place on Saturday February 9th.

The biggest of the names hotly tipped to attend are Colin Farrell, who is nominated in the Actor Film category for his role in Martin McDonagh’s Seven Psychopaths and Gabriel Byrne.

Other familiar faces expected to walk the red carpet on the night include actress Charlene McKenna nominated in Supporting Actress Film for Jump, Ruth Bradley nominated in Actress Film for Grabbers and Amy Huberman nominated for Actress TV for Threesome.
