Blackrock Girl Guides musical goes down a treat

editorial image

THE recent Blackrock Girl Guides, Brownies and Ladybirds Annual musical proved a huge success.

Parents and children came to the Community Centre in their droves to watch what can only be described as ‘the best performance of the Year’.

It kicked off with the Girl Guides (101/2 -13yrs) performing ‘Grease 1.5’,singing and dancing to many of the popular numbers like ‘Summer Lovin’, ‘Sandra Dee’, ‘I’ve got Chills’ and a fabulous rock n’ roll finale to ‘We go Together’. As their Leader, (a little bit biased of course) I can say they worked extremely hard and it paid off, they were magnificent and brought the crowd to their feet!!

Then followed the Brownies, (7-101/2yrs), who presented Blackrock’s got Talent’ and they certainly did. There were 3 brownie Judges who commented on each act, comprising of comedy, Irish dancing, singing etc. and all were winners!!

And just before the beautiful Ladybirds (4-7yrs) sang some Christmas Carols, the big man himself , Santa, turned up to greet all the children, give out some sweets and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

So all in all it was a wonderful family afternoon which saw the community centre buzzing with happiness and laughter.

Special thanks go to Mandy Fee, Conor Hughes, Patricia Reynolds, Viveann and Noel, the caretakers, the Fas lads, Marie and of course the girls themselves who should be very proud of all their achievements.
