Aura GOAL event raises over €2,000for Haiti appeal

The people of Dundalk have a lot to be proud of this week having played their part in the recent GOAL Fundraising Day which raised over n25,000 for the GOAL Haiti Earthquake appeal.

People from all over the area demonstrated their generosity by participating in the GOAL fundraiser which was co-ordinated by Aura Dundalk who opened their doors to all local teams, clubs, sports enthusiasts and families to participate.

"Overall the fundraising campaign was hugely successful and the response we got was amazing. People really acknowledged the urgency and importance of this appeal and showed their support by organising various sports events, donating funds or visiting Aura on the day," explained Sarah Byrne, Operations Manager at Aura Dundalk.

"Everyone really got behind this fundraising drive and were exceptionally generous with their money and time. Events on the day were open to all making it possible for everyone to take part and contribute whatever they could, no matter how big or small. Aura also donated all revenue taken in on the day to the Haiti fund," added Sarah.

Overall the fundraising day was an outstanding success with Aura Dundalk contributing over n2,000 to the n25,000 that was raised for the Haiti appeal. Fundraising events were held in the eight Aura centres throughout the country with all of the money raised going directly towards GOAL'S emergency relief work in Haiti.

"It was great to see so many people support this campaign and use their sporting spirit for such a good cause. We want to thank everyone who took part and are thrilled with the amount of money that was raised," added Sarah.

"We were delighted to have Aura's support with this appeal. We are very grateful to everyone who participated in the fundraising events in Dundalk and the various other fundraisers that took place right across the country," explained, Lisa O' Shea, Head of Fundraising for GOAL.

"The money raised will go directly to our relief work in Haiti where our GOALies have been on the ground for the last three weeks distributing essential aid to the thousands of people who have been left devastated by this disaster," added Lisa.
