Welcome for jobs at former Harp plant

Dundalk Chamber of Commerce and the Louth Economic Forum have both welcomed plans for more jobs at the former Harp Lager brewery.

Last week’s announcement that Cellulac plc which produces lactic acid, which is used in many products, including food preservation, has been warmly welcomed by local business. The company will join the Irish Whiskey Company as the new tenants at the former brewery.

Dundalk chamber has welcomed the news of a second business going onto the great northern distillery site.

“John Teeling is to be congratulated on maximising the full potential of the site,” the chamber said. “This highlights Dundalk’s place as the hub of the north east.

“The jobs involve quality demanding skills the town already has. A well educated workforce, DkIT and impressive infrastructure, all make Dundalk the place to do business.

“Last year 10 per cent of all foreign investment in Ireland was in Dundalk and this highlights our can do attitude. The chamber and the Louth Economic Forum, under the chairmanship of Padraic White, has worked hard to put Dundalk on the map. A lot has been done.”

Louth Economic Forum chairperson Padraic White also welcomed the announcement.
