Two month sentence for Dundalk man

A man who’s serving a two year jail term for endangerment after driving at an armed garda in North Louth, has had the remaining charges against him finalised.Stephen Quinn of Ardaghy, Omeath was recently sentenced at Dundalk Circuit Court where he pleaded guilty to a number of indictable offences.

Last Wednesday he admitted summary offences in the local district court - including driving without a driving licence and having no insurance at Cornamucklagh, Omeath on the fifth of February last year.

The Defence solicitor explained that his client had been given a three year sentence with the final 12 months suspended and had been disqualified from driving for four years.

Insp. Kevin Daly said that the prosecution before the court had been superceded by events in the Circuit Court and as a result a charge of dangerous driving could be struck out.

Judge William Hamill imposed a two month sentence for the insurance offence and a two year driving ban.
