Louth County Council has placed a temporary prohibition of bathing notice at Clogherhead beach today.
Water samples taken at Clogherhead on Monday, indicated that the water quality at the local beach did not comply with the minimum standards set down for Bathing Waters.
Further samples have been taken and the results will be available later today.
If the water quality is in accordance with the required standard the prohibition notices will be lifted.
In accordance with established protocols Louth County Council has contacted the HSE and the EPA on the matter.
Updates will be posted at www.louthcoco.ie and Louth County Council social media channels.
