The Macra na Feirme annual Know Your Neighbour Weekend took place on July 12 and 13. The theme this year was ‘Neighbours – Near and Far’.

Louth Macra na Feirme teamed up with Collon Senior Citizens to raise money for the senior citizens and to celebrate the Know Your Neighbour Weekend on Sunday 13 July. Sheep Dog Trials, cake sales and raffles all played a part in raising money for this great cause. People came from across the neighbourhood and surrounding area of all ages to join in on the fun of the day. A huge thank you to the Power family for organising the main event on their farm in Ballymacan, Collon and to everybody who donated prizes, gifts, money, time & effort towards the event. An awesome sum of over €2,000 was raised on the day.

As the theme this year was ‘Neighbours - Near and Far’, social media played a huge part in keeping people unable to attend updated on the fun day. Know Your Neighbour Weekend is in its ninth year and aims to bring neighbours together over one weekend of the year to get to know each other better.
